  • Baptized on November 14th, 1920 - Church St. Cunibertus Ülpenich (Parish register 18/1920), godmother Magarete(a) Merzenich, born Schmitz and godfather Josef Brüders.
  • Josef grew up with family Schneider in Ülpenich.
  • On April 1st, 1935 Josef started an apprenticeship to become a locksmith. Johannes Vorn in Insterburg (Ostpreussen) was his taskmaster.
  • Josef successfully finished his apprenticeship on March 31st, 1938 and worked in the shop of his taskmaster as an assistant till September 30th, 1938.
  • From October 1938 till June 1940 mobilized.
  • From July 1940 till September 1940 Josef worked as a locksmith with the company Schmitz (or List) in Ülpenich.
  • September 1940 he came to the Wehrmacht.
  • On November 24th, 1945 released from war captivity (Luftwaffe).
  • Johanna Gleim married him on September 1st, 1945.
  • From 1945 till 1973 he worked as mechanic for the German National Railways.
